The Isle of Bute is the most easily accessible island in this area, only 7 miles from the mainland by frequent ferry service to Wemyss Bay (35 mins) where a rail connection provides direct link to Glasgow (45mins). Both Glasgow and Prestwick Airports are about an hour’s drive from the ferry terminal. A smaller car ferry operates from the north of the island at Rhubodach to Colintraive with a 5 minute crossing to mainland Argyll.
