From starting as a junior negotiator in 1995 when I was a fresh-faced lad of just 20 years old, I quickly realised that even though estate agency involved lots of long hours, hard work and sometimes having to deal with extremely stressful situations…… I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! I mean, where else do you have the opportunity and privilege to be so involved in such an important time in people’s lives!?
It’s this love and passion for helping people move that’s kept me in this industry for over 25 years, having worked up from that junior negotiator role, right through to Regional Manager for the largest corporate estate agency in the country and more recently as a Branch Partner for the largest independent agent in the country.
For the vast majority of my career, I’ve been based in St Neots and of all the areas I’ve had the opportunity to look after, I’ve always returned back to my roots and back to my favourite market in St Neots, it’s where my career first started and it’s by far the market place I know and understand the best, so it’s no surprise that this is where I’ve now decided we should open our own independent estate agency and this time, with our name ‘above the door’.
My time working for the large corporate type estate agents has taught me that the only thing that really matters is the customer and the relationship we have with them and the experience they receive as a result!! Sadly, this tends to have been lost in the corporate world, where only high volume and high fees seem to matter, which is why I stepped away from that environment and decided that with Latcham Dowling we can use our vast amount of knowledge to deliver exceptional personal service, combined with an enormous level of market experience and a huge track record of success within the local St Neots market!
On a more personal note, for those who don’t know too much about me, I’ve been married to my wife Eve since 1998 and we have three lovely sons – Marcus, Matthew and Oliver. Eve is a nurse at Bedford hospital and has been for over 25 years, I enjoy mountain biking whenever I get the chance, although with the three boys there isn’t ever that much free time!

James has over 28 years Estate Agency with the last 12 years seeing him a Director level within two of the largest Estate Agency Groups in the Uk. Having overseen several branches in the local area and residing in Potton, he has an extensive knowledge of the local market places.
James lives with his wife and two teenage boys. His passions are all things sport including Golf, Football, skiing and certainly cycling which saw him complete a Charity ride around the UK covering 6400km over 64 consecutive days.
He has a huge desire to understand the needs of all his customers and left the corporate world as he wanted to provide a more “tailor made” approach rather than a world where people are just numbers.
Supports Liverpool football club but don’t hold that against him!
